Catskill Brewery – Livingston Manor, NY
If you’re driving between Syracuse and NYC, a route option is to take Rt. 17 to the Palisades Parkway and head over the GWB. My favorite route because it meanders past the Delaware River and some of the best fly-fishing waters on the east coast. Beautiful hilly country with the Catskill State Park bordering to the North. I recommend taking a pause on your journey and stopping in Livingston Manor, a revitalized small town on the banks of the Willowemoc Creek. Check out the Main Street Farm Market Cafe (http://www.mainstreetfarm.com/) if you need lunch and then head up to the Catskill Brewery for refreshments. The brewery has a fun intimate tasting room, outdoor tent with Adirondack chairs and games, and plenty of outside seating. The selection and quality of beers is top-notch. Warning, on a warm summer or fall day, after a couple brews, you may second guess your plan to head into the fracas of the Big Apple!
