ABOUT
Welcome!
WanderPath is a log for places I’ve enjoyed experiencing while going about my life’s travels. The daily routine of life is typically busy, responsibilities many, and the hours move by in a blur – going to work, traveling for work, hustling to get home to the family, keeping up on email, house projects, etc.. It takes an effort to “stop and smell the roses” during the daily rush. My inner compass has always nudged me to want to explore the locales I was visiting and look for what might be around the next corner – maybe a new Good Place.
In these pages you can check out a sampling of the places I feel are worth wandering to in the USA and the places on the “top-o-the-heap” that I think deserve special consideration. The places may not be for everybody and won’t be about big resorts or extravagant vacations, more the hidden gem kind of thing. I’ll try to includes some tips and details that may enhance the time you spend exploring these interesting places.
Thank you for following my journey and good luck on your wanders.

“The air was soft, the stars so fine, the promise of every cobbled alley so great, that I thought I was in a dream.” – Jack Kerouac, On the Road

About Me
Hi, I’m Doug Linquest – a working guy (for a few more years) who enjoys traveling with family, friends, or solo, and soaking in the experiences that new places have to offer.
A college English major, I somehow ended up working in the medical technology industry for 40 years. During that time I’ve lived in San Francisco (twice), Connecticut, San Diego, Oregon, and NY (CNY & NYC).
My passions are my family, friends, sports (especially the Syracuse Orange & Colgate Raiders), golf, fishing, reading, and I’m susceptible to seeking out microbreweries wherever I go.
I’ve been fortunate over the years to be able to travel regularly, both for work and pleasure. I always wanted to commemorate places that impressed me and that I felt provided a unique experience and good memories. I was too lazy to keep a journal, so this is my effort to catch on past wanderings and share the recent.
Would love to hear from anyone on their thoughts about the Wanderpath content and hope that maybe one of the listings will strike a cord and spur your own wandering. Also, please suggest places that I should check out. I promise to add them to the site if they pass the complex Wanderpath analysis process (i.e., I liked it).
Just a mention about my dad who was a great outdoorsman and an excellent father. He taught me a lot and probably the source of my interest in finding the good places.
