If you’re visiting the Bay Area and have half a day to take a hike and enjoy nature, Point Reyes National Seashore is a great call. About an hour drive north from downtown SF, the park has well marked hiking trails through a forest, meadows and beach settings. At the western end of the Point Reyes Peninsula is the historic Point Reyes Lighthouse, reached by descending 308 steps. Nearby is the short Chimney Rock hike, which is known for its spring wildflower displays.
